Sedmoi Kontinent OJSC is an international retail commercial chain, one of the leading trade operators in Russia. In 2004, Sedmoi Kontinent decided to start a new format of trade facilities within its chain — a hypermarket.
The company’s executives incurred a task of hypermarket activity automation based on a new software product, as the information system that was functioning in the existing supermarkets of the chain could not cope with the data volumes of a hypermarket. The system had to have an extended functionality and wide integration opportunities. Another key factor was software implementation within short time. The Company’s management decided to use a SAP software product — SAP® Business One. GazIntech was chosen the implementation partner.
Using SAP® Business One allowed to achieve big success. The GazInteсh solution has been fully integrated into the system landscape of Sedmoi Kontinent by the time of opening the first hypermarket within less than a year. Integration has been done both within the store and at the level of interaction with the central office and contractors to ensure timeliness, integrity and consistency of data. A unified information environment allows its users to optimize joint activity and enhance efficiency of through business processes in whole.
Use of data acquisition terminals and barcoding technologies allowed to speed up the acceptance of gods, to reduce the amount of trade stock by means of full control over its current balance, and to reduce the average amount of misgraded goods by 26%, the amount of goods not recognized by cash desks — by 70%.
As a result of the project the GazIntech specialists managed to achieve all targets placed to the implementation team. Moreover, the investment spent on the software based on SAP® Business One platform was reduced in 3-4 times compared to the average implementation value of the branch-specific solution SAP for Retail based on SAP ERP platform.
